This churn drill was used to obtain mineral samples for gold prospecting. The
Fairbanks Exploration Company's gold dredge on Fairbanks Creek ceased operations in
the 1960s. The churn drill has probably sat in the same spot on the dredge tailings for
the past 30 years. (Take a close look at the tree at the front of the drill.)
