Hello, I’m Elise Miller.  I was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska (which my family proudly refers to as “first generation Alaskan”) to an avid cross country skiing, canoeing, hunting and sailing family.  I studied Business Management at the University of Alaska—Fairbanks.  I am a certified lifeguard and water safety instructor.  I am married and have two grown children.  I am an organic gardener and help to run the family ranch, wedding business and fishing camp in the off season.  I’ve been dog mushing since 1986 and have raced, toured and traveled with sled dogs.  The last 17 years I’ve enjoyed teaching people of all ability levels about sled dogs and what it takes to work with these wonderful creatures.  I invite you to be a dog musher for a day—it’s an art form and a once in a lifetime experience!  This class is as much “hands on” as you want, so bring your sense of adventure.  My instruction is progressive and challenging but with an emphasis on safety.  I do recommend a reasonable amount of fitness, upper body strength and good balance for participation in my classes.  A snack, mushers packet and finishing certificate are included.  I only accept a maximum of two students per class for quality instruction purposes.  It can be colder than what most people expect on the dog trail so please dress in layers and bring along chemical hand, foot & body warmers if necessaryI look forward to meeting you. Happy Trails,     Elise
