Updates on Ashley's Mission Trip
Continue praying for Ashley during her trip. In Ashley's words: "Please pray that God will be able to use me to tell the people of Europe about Him. Please pray that I, and the others going on the trip, will remain safe while traveling, and while doing our missions work." Below is an itinerary so you will know where she is each day. We will try to keep this page updated when we hear directly from Ashley. Also, there are places on the internet where people can go for the most current updates from Reign Ministries. These are the places I get info from in between hearing from Ashley. Look for EuroQuest, as groups other than Ashley's are mixed in too. There is a lot of things that is the same on some of these sites, but every now and then you will see something in one place that is not on the others. You do not have to have a special account with twitter or facebook to view these pages. Weblogs Facebook Play by Play EuroQuest on Flickr
To learn more about Reign Ministries, you can visit their website. Ashley's trip is through their branch of Royal Servants. Updates - Most current is on the Top August 7, 2010 I haven't been hearing a lot from Ashley directly, so haven't been posting on this page as it would just be a repeat on what was on the Reign Ministry sites. Ashley did e-mail once during her trip, and she called once during her trip for a couple of minute, but no new info was learned. During her trip Ashley was involved in doing dramas on the streets. A few times they were stopped by the police. Ashley was also involved with doing surveys to help start conversations with people. I have heard that at least one person came to know the Lord through the work of the EuroQuest team. Ashley also had the opportunity to do some sightseeing from things like a chocolate factory and waterfalls in Switzerland, to the other extreme of visiting Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland. Today, however, I did get an e-mail from Ashley. While in Switzerland, Ashley had a chance to visit with Melanie, who is a friend of mine that is now a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Melanie has been in Africa for several years teaching Kindergarten students for Wycliffe. Now she is in Switzerland to learn French as she will be changing to a new job and location with Wycliff. Ashley and Melanie were able to spend several hours together and enjoyed talking about missions together. Ashley is back in London and is excited that she will be back in the United States in five days. On Wednesday, both her and Redgy will be flying towards Chicago, and they will meet there on Thursday afternoon. Friday they will fly back to Alaska together. July 8, 2010 Just got an e-mail from Ashley. Here is part of it: ".....We've had lots of walks around London in the last few days. We're staying at a church, so we've been doing activities with them quite often. Bible studies, childrens gorups, etc. Today our whole EuroQuest group had tea with some of the people from this church. Homade cakes, and real British tea. I love the tea; it's the best I've ever had! ....." Open House at Training Camp The last day at training camp was an open house for parents to come as see what their children were doing. Our family was not their as we were on our way back to Alaska. There is a video posted on the facebook site that was taken during this open house. Curtis Burnam, Ashley's leader, is the one introducing the drama, and sharing why Reign Ministries does dramas. The drama's name is "Clock". It is not necessarily Ashley's group that is performing on this video, as all the groups were performing the same drama at the same time. Click here to watch the video. About Training Camp Ashley has finished training camp, (Pictures below) and as of July 5th, is on her way to Europe. We dropped Ashley off at training camp on June 25th. Ashley is on the drama team. She along with the others on her team will be performing dramas on the streets in Europe to attract a crowd. After the presentation, they will mix with the crowd and share the Gospel with them. We did get a letter from Ashley that was written July 1 while at training camp. "...We have 3 minutes to make our 'beds' and get out of our tents in the morning. We get up at 5:30, and we wait a couple of hours before breakfast.... We are working on practicing our dramas this week.... I have gotten one shower this week, and that was last night. We go a long time without taking showers. Most of us don't even know what we look like, because we hardly ever see a mirror....." These pictures of Ashley I got off the internet at EuroQuest on Flickr from her time at training camp. ![]()
In the picture on the right, Ashley is getting ready to hand wash her clothes. During her trip she will be camping, and everyone will take turns making the meals.
