BEIRUT, Lebanon - Troops of Gen. Michel Aoun captured a strategic town Saturday that was a stronghold of rival Christian forces and opened a new front in the war for control of Lebanon's Christian region, police said.

Snipers prevented rescuers from recovering casualties, and bodies were left to rot on the streets. "Civil defense rescuers believe some of the corpses are booby-trapped and that's why the combatants want to keep them there," a police spokesman said.

THERE ARE NO CHRISTIANS TRADING SNIPER FIRE IN BEIRUT.

THERE ARE MARONITE ROMAN CATHOLICS "trading sniper fire."

There are people who may later become Christians "trading sniper fire."

There are people who call themselves Christians "trading sniper fire."

There are people who think they are Christians "trading sniper fire."

But, THERE ARE NO "IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH" FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST TRADING SNIPER FIRE IN BEIRUT OR ANY WHERE ELSE.
