CHRISTIAN COALITION LEADER Ralph Reed has been named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans for 1997 by the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Reed, 35, executive director of the politically conservative organization founded in 1989 by religious broadcaster Pat Robertson, will be formally honored at a ceremony scheduled for Jan. 11. The coalition, which claims to have 17 million members and supporters, was considered a major influence in the election of the first Republican-controlled Congress in 40 years in 1994.
