BAABDA, Lebanon - The government today fired Christian leader Michel Aoun as army commander, but thousands of his supporters formed a human shield around the presidential palace to defend him from a feared Syrian attack.

Gen. Aoun, who commands 20,000 mainly Christian troops, pledged Monday to "die fighting" rather than surrender to President Elias Hrawi's government or the 40,000 troops that Syria has in Lebanon. Aoun rejected Parliament's election of Hrawi last week and refused his earlier order to step down.

GENERAL AOUN IS A MARONITE ROMAN CATHOLIC. NOT A "CHRISTIAN."

THE MASS MEDIA CONSTANTLY MISUSES THE WORK "CHRISTIAN" IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC IMAGE OF ROMAN CATHOLICISM AND DISCREDIT GENUINE CHRISTIANITY.

A real shame is that no prominent "CHRISTIANS" challenge this mass media deceptive mis-labeling.
