Subject: Anchorage Folk Festival

Hello from anchor town,

The 9th annual Anchorage Folk Festival dates are Jan. 23, 24 & 25, and Jan. 30, 31 & Feb 1, 1998. There will also be various activities in the week in between. Here's an application for the Festival. Please pass this along to anyone who may be interested. While the deadline is Dec. 1, we don't expect to be full by that date and will fit late applications on space availablity. The address is on the bottom, or you can e-mail me the information, or call 566-2334. The most important information is to give us the performers name, and when they can play, we can catch up the other information later.

This year the guest artists are Balfa Toujours with Dirk Powell, Kevin Weimer & Christine Balfa. Besides the stage performances and workshops they will play a Cajun dance at the Snow Goose Restaurant on both Saturday nights, and an Old-Timey Square Dance on Thursday.

I understand some folks are interested in finding a place to crash, we'll put out the word and see what we can do.

In addition to the Festival, FOLK WEEK activities will held at various coffee shops and other venues around town, Jan. 26-30, mostly during the noon hour and in the evening. Would you be interested in participating for a FOLK WEEK performance?

Also during FOLK WEEK we are seeking musicians and dancers to perform in the schools. Would you be interested in performing in the schools? Would you be interested in playing for a Barn Dance Friday or Saturday night?

WORKSHOPS
Workshops are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday afternoons of both weekends. We are looking for folks to lead workshops on instruments, styles, dance and singing.
