Polyurethane spray
foam is the very best insulation in the world. It not only insulates
well, it also adds structural strength, stops air infiltration, has
a low moisture permeability, stops condensation, doesnt support
convection heat loss, and pays for itself in fuel savings in a short
amount of time. Some people are worried about the flammability aspects
of foam. Foam does give off bad gasses once it is under combustion,
but so does carpeting, carpet pads, some building materials, certain
furnishings, furniture, clothing, and lots of other things in this
modern world. As long as foam is used properly it poses no danger
in buildings. We have put foam in schools, hospitals, homes, businesses,
etc. and it performs fine. If foam is in occupied buildings it must
be covered with a proper thermal barrier such as sheetrock, a sufficient
guage metal, or sprayed fireproofing. As long as this is done, foam
meets all building, fire, and insurance codes. There are certain applications
in our arctic climate where foam's performance is far and away superior
to any alternatives. Metal buildings, flat roofs, hot roofs, in open
beam and cathedral type construction, cantilevered areas, floors of
buildings up on pilings, rim joists, water and sewer lines, tanks,
or any other place where a seamless, sealing, structural, conforming
to any shape material is needed. Using foam insulation saves fuel
oil. We like to say you only insulate once, but youre going
to pay for heat for a long time. Please feel free to call us and discuss
your building project. We are glad to share our knowledge and some
of the tips and tricks concerning thermal breaks, vapor barriers,
framing methods, etc. that we have picked up over the years. We can
spray or pour foam just about anywhere and we have 100 % solids sprayed
plastic coatings for foam protection, waterproofing, and liners and
sprayed cementitious fireproofings for thermal protection of foam.
