AFGE is introducing a new service that makes buying a new or used union-made car easier and more affordable. This service is only for AFGE members -- and it's free! Now, you can get the vehicle you want without the hassle and headache of going from dealer to dealer in search of the best models and prices.
AFGE's new Union Member Auto Buying Service helps you find the car, van or truck you want. And the service does the dealing for you. There's no more haggling over prices.
Here's how it works: Before you visit a car dealer, call the service and describe the vehicle you want. Within 24 hours an Auto Specialist will return your call and tell you where to find your new car. After you have selected the car you want, the service negotiates a price that's close to the dealer's actual invoice cost.
If it's a used car you are searching for, the service can help locate the vehicle you want tailored to your specific needs and budget.
Here's how it works: Call the service before you visit a used car dealer and describe the used car, truck or van you want (including the options and mileage). Within 24 hours an Auto Specialist will return your call and tell you where to find the used car you are looking for and how much it costs.
If you want a low-mileage domestic sedan, for example, the Auto Specialist will find the local car dealers that feature car models in this category. If you have a specific car and year in mind (say a 1993 Ford Taurus), the service will tell you what local dealerships have that vehicle available.
The Union Member Auto Buying Service specializes in locating recent-model used cars and promotes only top-of-the-line, physically inspected used vehicles. The vehicle identification numbers of used vehicles are checked against insurance industry records to ensure the cars have not been salvaged or reconditioned.
To help you research the new car you are buying, the program offers AutoFacts, an in-depth price report on one union-made vehicle model line. This report offers a comparison between the dealer's invoice cost and the manufacturer's suggested retail price for each style within that vehicle's model line. Also included is information on specifications, dimensions, safety factors and comparative competitive models. Each report costs $12.95. Postage is free.
